When Hajj was made obligatory

When was Hajj made obligatory?

The sixth question of Fatwa No. 4624

Q6: When was Hajj made obligatory? What is the authentic narration in this regard?

A: Scholars have differed concerning the year in which Hajj was prescirbed. It was said that Hajj was prescribed in the fifth year after Hijrah (Prophet’s migration to Madinah). Others said that Hajj was ordained in the sixth year of Hijrah. It was also said that it was ordained in the ninth or the tenth year after Hijrah. The last two viewpoints which cite that Hajj was ordained in the ninth or tenth year after Hijrah are the most authentic views.

May Allah grant us success! May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions!
