Advice of ash-Shaykh Ahmad bin Yahyaa an-Najmee (may Allaah have mercy on him) to the beginner students of knowledge

ash-Shaykh an-Najmee (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked: What is your advice to the beginner student of knowledge and what are the salafee books and tapes that you recommend him with?

He (may Allaah have mercy on him) replied: My advice to the students of knowledge is that they should have taqwa of Allaah, the Most High, and that they follow the path of the Prophet (may Allaah send His prayers and peace on him) and his companions; this is the path of salafiyyah and the methodology of salafiyyah. And I advice them to sit under salafi scholars and they read from the books of Tawheed, books of ‘Aqeedah, books of Hadeeth and books of Fiqh and this is how it should be. And it is obligatory upon the students of knowledge to have Taqwa of Allaah, the Most High, and warn from these calls to biased partisanship which wants to split their ranks, divide them and split their words. The Prophet (may Allaah send His prayers and peace on him) used to warn from the callers who called to Hell-Fire (may Allaah protect us). There is no doubt that partisanship consists of many crude mistakes. So it is obligatory upon the student of knowledge to warn against it and attend the circles of the salafee scholars and read the books authored by salafeeand to warn against the books of the people of partisanship for they contain honey mixed with poison as is said. And the guidance is from Allaah
