Bringing some Clarity to the Speech of ash-Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan, may Allah preserve him, regarding his advice to Ahlussunnah in Yemen who are being fought by the Houthiyoon.
Below is an incorrect translation of the aforementioned speech of the Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan, may Allah preserve him:
“…What has afflicted them is as a result of their differing among themselves. If only they united under one banner nobody would have been able to interfere in their affairs. However, when they split, and each one wanted what he desired, occurred to them what you see. Yes…”
The Correct translation is:
“…This has not befallen the people of Yemen except because of their forsaking of each other and their splitting. If they only came together under one banner, no one would be able to invade them. But when they divided and there came for them personal ambitions, everyone having a personal ambition; it has happened to them what has happened. Yes…”

Then Noble Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan, may Allah preserve him, clarified the aforementioned sentences in another audio by saying:
“…However this has occurred due to the tribulations, in Allah we seek refuge, due to the trails and due to rebelling against the rulers, breaking the bond of obedience, it is that which has caused these affairs, these is all a trail, the conquering of the enemy is resulted by the differing and the disputes and by breaking the bond of obedience (of the ruler), yes.”

So I would like to derive some points from above:
1: The speech of the Shaykh was general to Ahlussunnah in Yemen and it was not specific to Damaaj.
2: It has befallen them due to the tribulations, trails and chaos in Yemen of rebelling against the Rulers.
3: It is as how Allah stated in his noble book:
واتقوا فتنة لا تصيبن الذين ظلموا منكم خاصة واعلموا أن الله شديد العقاب
“And fear the Fitnah (affliction and trial, etc.) which affects not in particular (only) those of you who do wrong (but it may afflict all the good and the bad people), and know that Allah is Severe in punishment.”(8/25)
4: We must be precise in our translations, because a slight error can change the meaning.
5: We should not leave off the clear speech for that which is not entirely clear, as Allah has stated:
فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ فِيقُلُوبِهِمْ زَيْغٌ فَيَتَّبِعُونَ مَا تَشَابَهَ مِنْهُ ابْتِغَاءَ الْفِتْنَة
“So as for those in whose hearts there is a deviation (from the truth) they follow that which is not entirely clear thereof, seeking Al-Fitnah (trials, trouble etc.)…”
I ask Allah to make us sincere and from the people of fear. As I ask him to purify our souls and rectify our intentions and goals.
